Priya + Ojas (Engagement)
I had my first real photo shoot a few weeks ago!  One of my best friends, Priya, is getting married next year and she asked me to take some photos of her and her fiance so she could put together her save-the-date cards.  I was very flattered, but extremely nervous.  I suggested we go to a local park and then did some location scouting about 20 minutes before we planned on meeting.  It was so much...

Orchids
For my birthday last month, Jesse had flowers delivered to my office. They were beautiful purple orchids, so of course I had to take some photos.  I even got out my macro lens to take them. . . . . . . . . .

Polaroid Week 2010
Every year Flickr hosts a Polaroid Week.  It is one thing that really excites me about participating in.  I love polaroids!  My camera used to be my Dad’s and I really should use it more.  The photos I took this year were inspired by Jamie of From Me To You.  You should follow her because her work is breathtaking. . . . . . .

Naples On the Gulf
A few weeks ago, one of my friends from university came down here for part of her vacation and to visit me.  I had to work during the weekdays but the weekend we spent a lot of time outside enjoying the beautiful weather.  Here are some water pictures from my pretty city. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Collier County Fair
I love taking fair pictures!  They have such a vintage quality about them regardless of how or what you shoot them with. . . . . . . .

Collier County Fair Animal Portraits
Last weekend J and I went to the Collier County Fair.  It was the first time for him and the second for me, but first in a long time.  We had a great time walking around, having a few snacks, taking pictures, and looking at animals.  I didn’t want to ride on any of the rides, because I don’t like how easy they are to put up and take down.  This post will show the animals we saw at the...

Model/Photographer
“Life Doll Prada” - Elle Muliarchyk “In order to take a beautiful picture in a dressing room I need to genuinely feel like the outfit is a dream piece for me—something that I would feel like a million bucks wearing to, let’s say, Cannes.” - Elle Muliarchyk The picture above was taken by Elle Muliarchyk in the dressing room at a Prada store, of herself.  She...

Inspired by Ansel Adams
Ending the month about Ansel Adams is my Ansel Adams themed photo shoot.  I don’t have the locations that he had, and it’s hard to find the time to go out shooting when I’m working while the sun is up.  To fill you in, I recently got a new full-time job, so it cuts out a lot of the free time I used to have. It wouldn’t be Ansel Adams-style if it wasn’t in black and...

Introducing the "Theme of the Month"
For the new year I have decided to give each month a theme that will keep me posting a couple of things each month.  The theme could be a subject, color, photographer, artist, etc.  I hope to be able to post a few inspiring images, quotes, and thoughts each month, along with the regular content.  I also plan on doing a theme inspired photo shoot each month. For the first month of the year, the...

Bird Sunset
I’ve been noticing a lot of birds grouping together lately.  Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds comes to mind and is a little strange but makes for some amazing visuals.  On Thanksgiving my family and I went to see the sunset and saw a ton of little birds on the edge of the water. . . . .

The W South Beach
Jesse and I took another weekend away together.  This time we went to Miami South Beach on the other coast.  My dad had a couple free nights at the W South Beach hotel.  It was absolutely gorgeous, so thanks Dad!  We spent most of the time at the hotel, on the beach, and by the pool.  We did go out and explored South Beach since it was my first time, but really the hotel was the best anyway.  As...

High School Rivalry Game
Jesse and I went to different high schools. In fact, we went to rival high schools. Our freshman year of high school his school’s football team defeated my school’s football team for the first time in 8 years and tore down our goal post. They have won every time since then. This year we decided to attend the game. My school was undefeated until they met their cross-town rival and...

Katie and Chris's Wedding (St. Louis Part 5)
Here is the final part to my vacation in St. Louis.  Katie and Chris have been together for 9 years, since they were both sophomores in high school!  They are the cutest couple and encourage and compliment each other’s strengths and weaknesses.  The wedding ceremony was really fun with a live choir group singing their favorite songs on the Wash U campus.  And the reception was absolutely...

Wash U (St. Louis Part 4)
Of course we had to visit my alma mater, Washington University in St. Louis.  It had changed quite a bit since I last saw it.  But it still had a feeling of home for me.  It was nice to see, but I’m so glad I’m not in school right now. . . . . . . . . . .

Anheuser-Busch Brewery Tour (St. Louis Part 3)
This was another first for me, and it was so interesting!  I’d never really thought about what went into making beer before, but it is very scientific and interesting.  I would actually love to work here or somewhere similar in the lab, and I don’t even like beer! . . . . . . .

Inside the Arch (St. Louis Part 2)
Despite living in St. Louis for four years during college, I never went up the arch!  I’m not sure how that’s possible, yet I and many of my friends managed to do it.  It only cost $10 each to go up and I definitely recommend it since you have some beautiful views.  The tram car isn’t as small as you think it’ll be and once you are up in the arch you don’t really...

The Gateway Arch (St. Louis Part 1)
Last weekend I took a vacation to St. Louis for my friends’ wedding.  I was away for four days and had so much fun!  It was a much needed vacation.  I’m going to break the trip into a few different posts starting with the star of the city, the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial, also known as the Gateway to the West: the St. Louis Arch! . . . . . . . . ...

Rocko
This past weekend Jesse was petsitting his sister’s pets at her house.  Since it was a holiday weekend and I was unexpectedly off of work, I kept them all company and had a great time taking pictures. Let me introduce Roxy first.  She tapped on the wooden dowel in her cage and it sounded like a construction worker.  She can also say “pretty bird.”  Very cute! Now here is...

Parasailing Over Naples
My boyfriend and I went parasailing for the first time on Sunday.  We used a disposable waterproof camera to take these shots.  It’s been a while since I’ve used a film camera, but film was my first photography love and these just show me why.  I love the way the colors came out. . . . . . .

Ansel Adams
“You don’t take a photograph, you make it.” - Ansel Adams Mount McKinley, Denali National Park, Alaska (1948) I fell in love with Ansel Adams in my first photo class in Sophomore year of high school. To me, he is the ultimate landscape photographer. I saw an exhibition of his polaroids when it came to the Naples Museum of Art and it just enhanced my love. I admire the...
